As a mom who works full time, I cherish days off. I don’t know about any other twenty-something mom, but my schedule does not allow for weekends off. In order for me to have Sundays off, have to sacrifice my second day off to a floating weekday. Today is Wednesday, and I thought I would share a little bit of what I do, and try to do.

Per ususal I walked Leon to school. Luckily, this I get to do everyday. It’s one of those peaceful times where my phone is put away, toys aren’t around, and Leon can just talk to me. It’s this time that he asks those weird kid questions that he has a bunch of lately: “Where did Jesus live? Who made schools? What happens if you just keep adding one no matter how big the number gets?” (That last one is a direct quote, we talk a lot about numbers in our house.)
Usually when I get home I hit the gym- day off or not. However, I’m nursing a rookie running injury when I tried to transition from treadmill summer to outside fall. Instead, I went grocery shopping. If you know me personally, you know that I rarely step foot in a grocery store. I order literally everything online, like the true millennial I am, but I had reached a place where I was out of the odds and ends. A stain remover, I needed stuff to fill a hole in the wall, more quinoa, random stuff. So I did that, mopped my terrible military-housing floors, and finally relaxed.
Usually I made it a rule to do yoga on my days off, at the very least. However, with my anxiety symptoms coming out as irritation lately, I have found that I get super angry. As someone who has had an intermittent practice though, I know the answer for me is more yoga, not less, so maybe after I write this I’ll roll out the mat.
I managed to start my period right after my lunch, which was miraculous as weight loss has messed with my cycle, but also meant I was going to take the chance I had for a nice, long nap. And I did.
Picked Leon up from school after my nap- which by the way is our school the only one that is having a terrible time with parent pick up? I would rather walk to school in over 100 degrees than wait in that line again. This is where I focus myself in.
I don’t get the afternoons with Leon most of the time. I know I’m not the only one, either. I had a plan. We were gonna play together and snuggle and….. No. We had a long discussion about his homework and how to complete it, my son ever the perfectionist, took an hour. By then I let him play his tablet for half an hour, and FINALLY made it outside to play.

Then I made orange chicken for dinner, his favorite, and now as I type this I hear him brushing his teeth. We’re gonna watch a show together, read a book, he’s going to sleep, and I will take a bath.
Am I the only one who has no idea how the day goes so quickly?
